Nelson disability support workers to strike after employer refuses to budge on pay
240 Nelson disability support workers have decided to go on strike for three days during the month after being offered a one off payment of $400, in comparison to the Unions members in the west coast who have been offered and accepted a one off payment of $2500.
The Nelson support workers are calling for an offer closer to their west coast counterparts.

Historic pay equity settlement for school librarians and science technicians
A historic pay equity settlement has been signed. After a two year investigation by the NZEI on the skills used in the roles versus the pay. The settlement includes pay increases of between 10 – 38% which will cover more than 1200 librarians and library assistants , for the 400 science technicians their pay increases are between 20 – 40%, other benefits include parental payment increases.#

Up to 50,000 teachers and principals to strike next week
As many as 50,000 teachers and principles (kindergartens, primary, area and secondary schools) will strike again after rejecting the second offer from the Ministry of Education.
Negotiations have been on going since may 2022
First offer of between 7.6% and 11.7% increases over two years, with lump sum payments of up to $1250.
Second offer, increases of $4000 right away and $2000 after 12 months ( which covers the 7.2% inflation)

Security guards have now had enough signatures to initiate a Fair Pay Agreement (FPA) .

First FPA In Aotearoa Confirmed – Bus Drivers To Begin Negotiations
Union bus drivers have become the first group of workers to successfully initiate a Fair Pay Agreement. First Union made the application at the end of 2022. The FPA will cover urban, school and SESTA ( Special education school transport assistance). The unions involved in the FPA are Tramways unions and the Amalgamated Workers Union.

1900 Corrections staff who work in the community to strike
Corrections staff will work away from their roles after rejecting the pay offer of 4.7% in the first year and 3% in the second year.
The previous increases of 1-2% increases in 2020 and 2021, and with some corrections staff still on the same pay they started with 11 years ago, has pushed members to strike.

Bus drivers set to get pay boost
Three regional councils have approved bus drivers increases. Drivers in Wellington, christchurch and Otago (including dunedin and Queenstown) will all jump to an hourly rate of $30 an hour.
