Ministry of Education / Pay Equity Win for School administrators
If the proposed pay equity settlement is approved in a vote next month, school administrators will be receiving an average wage increase of 22 percent. These rates would be backdated to 20 August 2021.

ETEL Transformers / Manufacturing workers strike as say they can’t wait longer for Living Wage
100 ETU Members at ETEL Transformers will be going on strike after the company has indicated that it will wait until the end of the year to start paying the living wages. Union members want the base rate for fully trained workers to start at the living wage rates to be secured as soon as possible, not in six months time.
FredA – The Living Wage has become a major focus point for all unions. Be prepared for strike action if you are still a minimum wage employer. The steep rise in the cost of living has got the most docile union member to be forceful.

Due to short staffing and unfavourable working conditions, firefighters will be on strike starting Monday in hopes to gain wage increases and better working conditions.
The firefighters strike will be largely behind the scenes and will not affect responders to emergencies.

Midwives Welcome Increase In Paid Parental Leave Payments
Starting 1 July midwives will receive $40 a week increase in paid parental leave – a 6.3 percent increase on the maximum weekly rate.
Fire And Emergency NZ / FENZ’s ultimatum left no room for bargaining at mediation
After the NZPFU (New Zealand professional firefighters union) members rejected the FENZ (Fire and Emergency New Zealand) offer, bargaining has come to a standstill. FENZ also taking the hard line and refuting to meet until the issue on remuneration has been resolved.

Allied health workers vote to accept deal
After months of bargaining and strikes, Allied health workers (allied, public health, scientific and technical health professionals) have ratified.
This settlement will see allied health professionals receive back paid pay increases of $5700 along with lump sum payments, with further payments to come through the pay equity negotiation process. The deal, which represents an initial increase of between 5 -17 percent, will also see all allied health workers paid above the living wage for the first time.
